Parker Plastics, Inc. (“PPI”) is a privately-owned manufacturer of plastic bottles and containers. Founded in 1989, PPI has four custom blow molding plants located in Sand Springs, OK, Pleasant Prairie, WI, Hagerstown, MD, and North Las Vegas, NV. Parker Plastics is looking to hire a Plant Manager to join our growing company and lead overall operations in our Wisconsin plant.

Position Summary:
The Assistant Plant Manager will oversee all aspects of the operations within the plastics container manufacturing plant side by side with an oversight of the Plant Manager. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to ensure efficient production, high-quality products, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.  The Assistant Plant Manager will lead production efforts by developing and implementing near-term tactics and identifying goals and objectives to meet the company’s vision, mission, and long-range strategic plans. Primary Duties / Responsibilities:
  1. Operations Management:
    • Direct and coordinate daily operations of the plastics container manufacturing plant.
    • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands while optimizing resources.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment reliability and performance.
    • Monitor equipment condition, performance metrics, and failure trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Work closely with maintenance/engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, implement corrective actions, and enhance equipment reliability.
    • Monitor production processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
    • Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  2. Team Leadership:
    • Recruit, train, and supervise plant staff, including production workers, technicians, and supervisors.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Provide coaching and mentorship to employees to develop their skills and capabilities.
    • Set performance goals and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  3. Safety and Compliance:
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
  4. Supply Chain Management:
    • Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels and ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished products.
    • Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality and reliability of materials and services.
  5. Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and waste minimization.
    • Lead initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
    • Implement best practices and lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement.
  6. Budgeting and Cost Control:
    • Develop and manage the plant's operating budget, including expenses for labor, materials, and overhead.
    • Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities to maximize profitability.
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in plastics manufacturing or related industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, cost analysis, and financial management.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of GMP, HACCP, SQF, manufacturing systems and processes, engineering, continuous improvement, and quality systems
  • Ability to make sound business decisions, problem solve, and identify & implement solutions
     
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
  • Some travel required.  Must be able to fly or drive for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to typical office noises regularly and occasional exposure to loud noises in our production facility and warehouse.
